Exec. VP, Operations
wlucien@lsggroup.com
As Exec. VP, Operations of Lucien, Stirling & Gray Advisory
Group, Inc. and Lucien, Stirling & Gray Financial Corporation,
Walter handles all operational and compliance functions of the two
firms.
Walter came to the investment profession via a career in opera.
He majored in music, with an honors minor in computer science at
the University of Alabama, and went on to receive his masters degree
in music at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester.
After five years of performing, he came to Austin in 1983 to teach
and to pursue a DMA at the University of Texas, but soon found
that his true interests lay elsewhere. "I realized that I was spending
a tremendous amount of my time in coffee shops reading the Wall
Street Journal and following financial markets, and I decided that
I couldn't spend the rest of my life listening to 17 year-old sopranos
singing Edelweiss."
Walter became associated with a Wall Street firm in 1985, and
spent two years managing individual investment portfolios. He then
spent five years with a firm specializing in corporate retirement
plan design and administration for companies in all 50 states.
In 1992 Walter was a founder of Lucien, Stirling & Gray Financial
Corporation, an independent member firm of the National Association
of Securities Dealers. Shortly thereafter, the groundwork was laid
for the creation of Lucien, Stirling & Gray Advisory Group,
a Registered Investment Advisory firm.
In his spare time, Walter enjoys golf and flying small planes.
Though he no longer sings professionally, he can occasionally be
heard at office birthday parties and other special functions.
